Senior Director & Assistant General Counsel Job Category : Operations Legal Requisition Number : SRDIR002526 Apply now Posted : May 21, 2025 Full-Time Hybrid Locations Showing 1 location Chicago Home Office Home Office 225 N Michigan Ave 17th Floor Chicago, IL 60601, USA Chicago Home Office Home Office 225 N Michigan Ave 17th Floor Chicago, IL 60601, USA The Senior Director & Assistant General Counsel assists the Vice President and General Counsel in all matters assigned and is responsible for providing general legal advice to Association staff at all levels (home office and field) and solutions to eliminate risk for the Association and its related 501(c)4 entity, Alzheimer’s Impact Movement (AIM). Specifically, this position leads the contract, lease and government grant legal review functions, and interfaces on a regular basis with the senior leaders and their staff across the organization to ensure contracts comply with applicable laws and Association policies and are in the interests of the Association. This is an ideal position for an attorney who has a strong transaction background and wants to work on a diverse portfolio of subject matters, while have regular, direct interaction with their clients. Responsibilities Review and provide advice and counsel to all staff of the Association related to all Association contracts, including, but not limited to, vendor contracts, service contracts, nondisclosure agreements, cause marketing agreements, sponsorship agreements, real estate leases, and other documents. Lead, from a legal perspective, the government grant process, including reviewing and providing advice and counsel regarding federal and state grants and having weekly meetings with the Sponsored Programs & Government Grant Strategyand team. Review real estate leases and other lease-related documents and work with the Association’s Real Estate staff to maximize the Association’s position in lease negotiations. Analyze all contracts, including, but not limited to data use agreements, to determine how they propose to use data, whether that data comes to or from the Association, and provide advice and counsel to ensure such usage complies with applicable data privacy laws and Association policies. Interface and collaborate with peers on the Internal Audit team to discuss risk management and other Association issues that pertain to organizational compliance with applicable laws and Association policies. Provide onboarding legal presentation and familiarization to new hires of the Association regarding its contract-related policies and procedures. Qualifications Law degree and admission to a State bar. 7+ years of general transactional law experience. Expertise in at least one of the following areas: government grants, leases, cause marketing/sponsorship agreements or data privacy. Familiarity with non-profit law preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong knowledge of customary office systems – Word, Adobe, Excel, PowerPoint. Strong business and financial acumen as well as superior analytical and writing skills. Ability to analyze risks and provide mitigation strategies and solutions. Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to multi-task and handle quick turnaround deadlines. Title : Senior Director and Assistant General Counsel Position Location : Chicago, Illinois is preferred, but the position could be located elsewhere within the continental United States. Full time or Part time: Full-Time. The position is intended to be hybrid, but other arrangements are possible. Position Grade, Compensation and Benefits : Grade 512. The Alzheimer's Association’s good faith expectation for the salary range for this role is between $160,000 - $210,000. This position is eligible for a bonus based on both individual and organizational performance up to 6% of salary.
