ROAD STRUCTURES WORKER I
The Department of Public Works will be reaching out to candidates to invite them to participate in an interview. Job offers will be made once interviews are completed.
The County of San Diego is currently accepting job applications for Road Structures Worker I. Employees in this role perform work in the construction, repair, and preventive maintenance of county-maintained road and bridge structures, culverts, guardrails, masonry walls, concrete curb and gutters, and related structures.
HIRING TIMELINE AND DATES
Interviews, job offers, and background processes will be ongoing. (Current County employees may be exempt from the background process.)
Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
Anticipated Start Date: Based on successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed-upon date.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
One (1) year of experience constructing, maintaining, and repairing a wide variety of road and bridge structures, culverts, related structures, and concrete finishing work; OR
One (1) year of construction experience including general carpentry work.

REQUIREMENTS
A valid California Class B driver's license with a tank endorsement and no restrictions on transmission or air brakes, along with a current medical card, are required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. Some positions may require a Class A California Driver's License. Employees are subject to random testing per DOT guidelines.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
Prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening before beginning employment. Additional background investigations may be conducted based on job activities. Current County employees may be exempt from some screening requirements.
EVALUATION PROCESS
Qualified applicants will be placed on a six-month eligible list based on scores from their application and supplemental questionnaire. Ensure all information is complete and accurate, as responses will be reviewed by an automated system. Successful initial screening will lead to a review of individual applications for accuracy and qualification.
